Avengers: Age Of Ultron Update – Andy Serkis and Paul Bettany’s Roles

andy-serkis-klaw-110383The worldwide release of the high-anticipated Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron is looming upon us, and the updates and speculations just keep on coming.

Recently, Marvel has released the second trailer for Age of Ultron, leaving fans with even more questions. We have been teased a lot on the plot and how it would lead into other stand-alone Marvel films, and Marvel – being the awesome guys that they are has opted to leave out any tidbits on what Andy Serkis’ role would be? Believe me, the most asked question right now (and with the most obvious answer) is “will Andy Serkis be playing Ulysses Klaw?” Finally, we got something.

Schmoes Know has since reported that Serkis’ is indeed playing Klaw in Age of Ultron and adds “this version of Klaw will be a sort of amalgamation of both Klaw and his father in the comics, Fritz Klaue,” the latter of whom has a history with the Howling Commandos and Baron von Strucker in the comics “and from what we hear in the film as well.” The site further reports that Fritz could appear briefly in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but “most of his attributes will be given to Serkis’ Klaw.”

Everyone has understood by now that with Marvel having to split its characters with Sony and Fox, they had to tweak a few details in their story lines, often involving changing character origins and movie plot. So it’s kind of interesting to know what made Marvel decide to mix the two Klaws.

Another intriguing thing about Age of Ultron, is how much of a role will Vision play in the movie. We’ve all seen the two trailers, the on-set photos, the interviews with the Avengers cast, but we’ve yet to see a glimpse of Paul Bettany as Vision in the trailers.

“I’ve never been on a bigger set on my entire life than in The Avengers {Age of Ultron], the actor told RadioTimes. “One [part] seemed to be the corner of a town, with helicopter cameras, and drone cameras flying about. I just haven’t seen anything that big, so it was like being a kid on a film set again.”

“This is the biggest thing Marvel have ever done,” he continued. “It was enormous. I remember, we were at Comic-con, and they showed a portion of the footage, and I was just gobsmacked. And I looked down the row and every one of the Avengers was the same.”

But how does Bettany feel about actually getting to don a costume this time? “I love doing it,” he said. “It’s really nice to have a balance in all this. To go from a movie I was making where we couldn’t afford two cameras, to a movie where there’s helicopters with cameras in. It was a lot of fun. I’ve been to Comic-con like 5 times, and I went this last time as part of the Avengers, and it was… just nuts. It was crazy, Those fans go CRAZY. And that was strange.”

RadioTimes also asked what it’s like for Bettany to consider a permanent association with The Vision. “I hadn’t really thought about it,” he replied. “I’m feeling quite daunted now that you’ve said it. I look really different in real life. I’m red and android in the film. So I don’t know, hopefully that’ll help.”
